Orange Is The New Black Coconut Cake Recipe
Orange Is The New Black is still delighting TV watchers with its unique insight into women’s prison. While one wouldn’t think there’s a lot of delicious food floating around prison the show manages to work in quite a few references to great food, perhaps to show viewers just how much a good meal can mean to prisoners. The inmates spend almost a week, for instance, chasing a chicken for Red (the cook) to catch a chicken Kiev.
The Coconut Cake
In another episode, Tricia tries to convince Miss Claudette to make a coconut cake for her girlfriend’s going away party. Miss Claudette doesn’t agree, so we never exctly get to see the legendary cake but there was such a hooh-hah about it that we ended up craving some coconut cake when watching re-runs of Orange is the New Black.
We do see Miss Claudette hint that she uses French vanilla in her recipe, so using that hint along with a couple of other recipes, we’ve come up with this delicious recipe. Serve it as a dessert or while you’re watching the show.
