Protect Yourself From Harmful Inflammation By Eating Strawberries
A recent research by the team at the American Chemical Society has found that a bowlful of strawberries in a day can help curb chronic inflammation in humans. It can also reduce the awful effects of the inflammatory bowel disease which results in pain, diarrhoea and fatigue.
Strawberries For Gut Health
“The sedentary lifestyle and dietary habits of many people in this country — high-sugar, high-animal-fat, but low-fiber diets — may promote colonic inflammation and increase the risk of IBD,” Hang Xiao, Ph.D., who led the study told Science Daily. Xiao and his team conducted a research on mice which resulted in the findings that if a person suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease was to eat three quarters of a cup of fresh strawberries, it can reduce weight loss and bloody diarrhoea.
Not only this, strawberries also resulted in the reduction of harmful microbiota in the gut caused by the disease. The team is yet to apply this research on the humans suffering from the disease but current findings suggest that strawberries can prove beneficial for gut health; unless one is allergic of course.
