Amritsari Fish Recipe
Amritsari fish originates from the streets of Amritsar – no surprises there! It’s a popular street food in Punjab and tastes great during the winter or monsoons.
Serve Amritsari fish with some lemon and chaat masala or chutney at tea time or as a dinner appetiser.

Ingredients
- 8 pieces fish fillets cut into bite sizes
- 200 gram gramsflour
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tbsp Ginger paste
- 1 tsp ajwain
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 1 egg
- 110 grams yogurt
- Oil
- salt to taste
- 2 lemons cut into wedges
- 2 tbsp cold water

Instructions
- Combine the salt, lime juice, ginger paste, garlic paste and red chili powder together.
- Coat the fish with this mixture and allow it to marinade for half an hour.
- Combine the gram flour, yogurt, egg, ajwain, salt to taste and water together to make a batter.
- Coat the fish pieces in this batter and allow them to sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat enough oil for deep frying in a wok and fry the fish until golden.
- Serve the fish immediately with the lemon wedges.
