Ingredients
- 1 cup Toor Dal (Split) or moong dal
- 1/4 cup tamarind paste
- 5 green chillies adjustable
- 10 cloves garlic
- Salt to taste

- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 10 Curry Leaves
- Coriander leaves (Dhania) as required for garnishing

Instructions
- To start the preparation of Garlic Dal, pressure cook the dal well and let it cool.
- Dry roast the green chillies.
- Blend the cooked dal, roasted green chillies, garlic, tamarind paste, salt in a mixer till the dal turns smooth.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Let the curry leaves crackle. Add the blended dal and immediately switch off the flame.
- Do not heat the dal. If the dal cooks then it will lose the raw garlic flavour. Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve the Garlic Dal hot with lachha paratha or steamed rice or ragi mudde along with a dollop of ghee.
