Harry Potter Pumpkin Pasties Recipe

on

A few days after the news broke that there will be a new Harry Potter book, Harry Potter is still all over the internet. Fans now know that in summer this year there will be a stage production – ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, which is set 19 years after the last book. Here’s an official statement about it:

“It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”

In response to fans who pleaded that a book version be released as well – hey not everyone has the broomsticks to fly to Britain for the play – it was then announced that on July 31st at midnight a  script of the play would also be released.

A Trip To Harry Potter Land Through Food

We’ve already shared a recipe for the legendary Butter beer, which you can use to raise a toast to the news and for a Knickerbocker Glory, which was one of the first foods to make an appearance in the series.

Now, we’re super excited to share a recipe for a Hogwarts Express classic; Pumpkin Pasties. You may remember we’re first introduced to Cho Chang , one of Harry’s love interests when she asks for two pumpkin pasties and they continue to crop up in passing whenever the Hogwarts’ kids are travelling.

These pasties can be made with fresh or canned pumpkin.

Instructions
  1. Whisk the eggs and sugar together.
  2. Stir in the pumpkin, salt, butter and spices.
  3. Stir in the evaporated milk.

  5. Then, reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 45 more minutes.
  6. Take this out of the oven and allow it to cool.
  7. Cut circles out of the pastry crust and spoon the pumpkin into each of the circles.
  8. Fold the circles into crescent moon shapes, sealing the edges by crimping them.
  9. Make small slits on the top of each of the pasties.
  10. Place the patties on a sheet of baking paper on a tray and bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
  11. Take the pasties out of the oven, brush with butter and serve!
