The Lord Of The Rings Beorn’s Honey Cakes Recipe
Lord of the Rings has won the hearts of many; it allows readers to escape into a beautifully described fictional world filled with magic, mystical creatures and a fight between good and evil- a recipe for a wonderful story.
We recently discovered a recipe for Lembas bread, a travelling bread made by the Elves that gives travellers energy and sustenance. Today, we’re drawing focus to another popular travelling food; honey cakes.
Honey Cakes
Honey Cakes made their first appearance in The Hobbit; they’re made by Beorn, a skin changer. While they taste better than cram, they pale in comparison to Lembas bread. Nevertheless, they’re immensely popular with travellers because they keep fresh for a long time and are easy to carry. Honey-cakes are often found with Beorn’s descendants; the Beorings.
Honey Cakes In The Real World
Want to make some honey cakes just like Beorn? We’ve got a recipe. While these cakes have a fairly good shelf life (1-2 weeks), we’d recommend you eat them fresh from the oven, unless you’re planning a trek across Middle Earth. Enjoy them as a snack at tea time or an appetiser to a meal.
