Onam Special: Kerala Olan Recipe
An important side dish in Kerala sadhya, Olan is a traditional recipe cooked with ash gourd and black eyed peas in coconut milk.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of black eyed peas
- 3 cups of ash gourd diced
- 2-3 green chilli slit
- 1/4 cup of coconut milk
- •Salt to taste
- a few curry leaves

Instructions
- Pressure cook the beans in the pressure cooker for at least 6-7 whistles. Strain the stock and keep aside the cooked beans.
- Cook the ash gourd in 2 cups of water. Add green chillies and salt to it. Cook till the ash gourd becomes tender.
- Add the cooked beans to the ash gourd and mix well. Now, add the coconut milk and curry leaves.
- Cook on low flame for 5-7 mins. Remove from the fire and pour 1 tbsp of coconut oil on it.
