Growing up, chikki was one of my greatest pleasures. It was the perfect tea time snack, but it was also loaded with enough sweetness to make a child happy. My grandmother used to make chikki in her outdoor kitchen and while none of us ever really watched the making process, we were really good at the eating part of things. Over the years, chikki has gone through various avatars and different names, but the taste has stayed the same. There are healthier options and there are different shapes, but the magic of this Indian snack has never changed.
Known to most as Peanut Brittle, this easy to make snack is something that will take you a total of an hour, or maybe a little more, to put together. And you don’t even need a long list of ingredients to put this together. It can be a snack for yourself when you’ve run out of things to eat with your tea, or you can make this for the kids. And because we used jaggery (you can also use white or brown sugar instead), it’s a little healthier than what we probably ate as kids.
