Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice
- 1/2 cup yellow moong
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 green chilli
- 1 inch Ginger
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 sprig Curry Leaves
- 4 cups Water
- cashews according to preference
- 200 gram ghee
- salt to taste

Instructions
- In a pressure cooker, put half the amount of ghee and let it heat up.
- Add the rice and moong and fry them for a few minutes.
- Now pour the water and salt.
- Put the cooker lid and cook the pongal till 3 whistles.
- For the tempering, heat the remaining ghee and add the curry leaves, ginger, cumin seeds, green chilli, black pepper and cashews.
- Cook for a minute and once the flavours are released, add this tempering to the pongal and stir well.
- You can also take out the pongal in the serving in the serving bowl and then temper it and serve hot.
