Sweet Paniyaram Recipe

A sweet, delicious, and wholesome dish, the sweet paniyaram is a jaggery infused version of the classic paniyaram (no kidding). The dish is popularly eaten as a snack or breakfast in South Indian households. Made with a fermented rice batter (used for making dosa or idli), the recipe is quick to make and the final result a sheer delight.

You can sweeten the paniyaram with a number of ingredients, but some of the most common and traditional ones are jaggery and palm sugar. You could alternatively use brown sugar as well. Follow this recipe to steam up some delicious sweet paniyarams!

Instructions
  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl to form a thick batter.
  2. Grease the paniyaram mould and add few drops of oil in all the moulds. Heat the mould.
  3. Turn the flame to medium and fill each of the moulds up to 3/4th with the paniyaram batter. Cover and cook.
  4. When the base is set, flip them to the other side and cook until done.
  5. Serve hot or cold.
