- 2 cups uncooked rice
- ¾ cup Tur dal
- ½ cup urad dal
- ¾ cup chana dal
- ¼ tsp Asafetida
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 7-8 Curry Leaves
- 1 cup sour curd
- salt to taste
- Sunflower Oil

Instructions
- Preparation of Batter
- Soak tur dal, chana dal and urad dal together in water for 2 hours.
- Coarsely grind rice in a mixer grinder.
- Add curd, salt and asafetida to the ground rice and leave it for 2 hours.
- Take out the soaked dal and grind them coarsely. Mix this with the curd-rice mixture.
- Add cumin seeds, curry leaves and mix well.
- Preparation of Thavala adai
- Take a thick pan and heat it on low flame.
- Heat 1 teaspoon sunflower oil.
- Add 2 ladles of batter in the pan. Add 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil around the batter and close the pan with a plate.
- Heat for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Turn the half formed dosa to heat the other side of it. Add 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil around it again.
- Close the pan with the plate and heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Cook throughout on a low flame.
- Serve.
