Would You Replace Your Green Tea With Rajasthani Olive Tea? #POLL

on

Green Tea is all the rage right now – as is any food and drink that could help keep your body in the pink of health – and why shouldn’t it be? It’s been proven to be supremely healthy, can keep you hydrated, and is a great substitute to more caffeinated an/or sugary hot beverages. But there may soon be a substitute – well, sort of – for this healthy tea as well. And what’s more? It’ll be made in India so retailers have yet another saleable angle to market the living life out of (because we know how well that works).

So what is this new “exotic” healthy tea that we speak of? Behold, the mighty olive tea! As the name suggests, the beverage will be made from olives – well, olive leaves actually – in Rajasthan.

Christened Olitia, The Olive Tea, the drink will pride itself with benefits like containing zero caffeine, immunity building, fighting fatigue, and also boasts of anti-ageing properties. Moreover, the tea will also be beneficial for those suffering from mental ailments and/or cardiac health issues.

According to State Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will launch the tea soon. “It will be the first time in the country and the world that a green tea alternative will be produced out of olive leaves,” he told PTI on the sidelines of an event in the city. He added, “I am a PhD in Agriculture myself, and I knew olive leaves have several health benefits. So I decided to get some study and lab testing done about it.”

Based on lab studies carried out on the tea in July, it is evident that the beverage is high in a number of nutritive factors. For instance, it is rich in several anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and other such substances in the olive leaves. One of the elements found in it was Luteolin. “Experiments with Luteolin show that it suppresses bacteria-induced inflammation. Luteolin is an oxygen scavenger,” reads the report.

Saini added that the olive green tea will come in multiple flavours that are trending these days, like lemon and mint. “We are trying to diversify and produces other flavours like ginger, tulsi etc,” he said.
