There’s A Hilarious War against Vegans Underway On This Restaurant’s Facebook Page

on

Being frequent restaurant customers, we’ve witnessed hundreds of servers, chefs and owners pandering to customers’ demands, no matter how outrageous. Which makes sense; the customer is always right, right?

Well, there’s one restaurant in Dublin – The White Moose Cafe – that absolutely refuses to cater to customer demands. Specifically; it refuses to entertain vegans. Their current, all-out war against vegans originated in mid-August, when the owner posted a (justified, we think) request on the restaurant’s Facebook page that vegans visiting the cafe should give it a little advance notice. That comment sat and stewed on the page for a while until, a few months later a vegan got highly offended. And then shared the post with other vegans who got similarly offended and so forth. Instead of backtracking and apologising, the cafe decided to say ‘Challenge Accepted’ and is now engaged in battle that uses sarcasm, irony, trolling and humour as its armour and weapons, which the Internet absolutely loves.

Before we take you through the origins of the war and its current status, allow us to introduce you to the key players.

Paul, The Owner

We assume that he’s the mastermind behind the Facebook page and the war against vegans. Doesn’t this post give you a little foreshadowing about what’s to come in the future?

The Vegans

Vegan

We have nothing against vegans. We’re complete carnivores, but we also think veganism is pretty cool. Whatever works for you, right?

The Facebook Groups

Since the start of the fight, various Facebook groups have popped up that are either for or against The White Moose Cafe’s stand on Veganism. We like to think of them as the cavalry.

The Orgins

As we mentioned early, the post that started it all popped up in Mid-August. The cafe, which opened in August was establishing its stand on food served.

After the post started gaining traction, vegans became highly outraged and started giving the cafe one star reviews with many vegans who had not even been to the cafe reviewing it negatively on principle. Paul decided to hit back, with this post rife with sarcasm.

I’m loving all the negative reviews we have been receiving over the past hour or two posted by seemingly every vegan who…

The café then took an even more drastic step and announced that vegans are not welcome in the cafe any longer:

And then there’s this:

Dear vegans, I wonder if you ate normal food would you be able to tell a piss-take post on a satirical café Facebook…

Meanwhile, the vegans are still voraciously giving the cafe negative reviews. Facebook groups like Fans of The White Moose Cafe and the People Against the People Against the White Moose Cafe and The people Against The People Against The People Against The White Moose Café (yes, seriously) have popped up. There’s also a group that’s called Vegans Against People Against The White Moose Cafe, which we love, because it represents vegans that understand the humour of the situation.

In late October, The White Moose Cafe thanks all the vegans for publicising the cafe.

**THANK YOU VEGANS**I would like to thank the hundreds and thousands of vegans across the world for all the hard work…

The cafe has also recently released vegan war t-shirts for people in support of the cafe to show their solidarity.

We could continue going on and on. The vegan war (or as Paul likes to call it, World War V) has reached thousands of people all over the world, who each have their two bits to add.

So, if you want a laugh, head over to The White Moose Cafe’s page. If you’re easily offended, you should probably steer clear of it. Or add fuel to the fire. Like veganism, it’s your choice.
