Find Out How Barbecue Ride India Prepares Your Meal On Two Wheels
The foodtruck trend has caught up across the country. But how many of you have heard of Bengaluru-based ‘Barbecue Ride India’ – a food start-up on wheels where food is freshly cooked on a 500cc Royal Enfield Classic, which holds a patent for its kitchen design. To drive business development they have received a funding of Rs. 10 lakhs. The funding received was crowd sourced.
The company is founded by Arun Varma, his brother Krishna Kumar Varma and two friends, Manogna Chaudary and Syeed Mujeeb. These youngsters also run Streety Treats, a food truck stationed in North Bangalore.
The BBQ Bikes
The Barbecue bikes are the first of it’s kind in India. The 500cc Royal Enfield Classic bikes are customied to include a side car set-up, and are equipped with storage units, a barbeque pit, a grill pan, storage doors which can be rolled out as serving tables, a desk, a gas bank with a 5kg cylinder and tooling units.
Arun Varma said that the company’s unique selling proposition (USP) is the taste of the items prepared on coal and firewood, which is oil-free and has attracted even the growing health-conscious customers. They already have two bikes and a third is under development. The bikes travel Kammanahalli and Coffee Board Colony, Hebbal.
What’s on the menu?
Indulge in a range of healthy and delicious delicacies like slow-cooked lamb chops, smoky Greek garlic chicken, barbeque drumsticks, juicy barbeque burgers, barbeque wraps, barbeque rolls, chicken and barbeque wings, hot dogs, grilled pineapple wedges and grilled mushroom sticks, all priced between INR 100 and INR 200.
The future of ‘food on wheels’
Being a novel concept, it is gaining traction across the country. This has led to many private equity and venture capitalists coming forward to fund these businesses.
“The company is currently in talks with investors to expand its operations. We personally can feel the pulse of the city for our BBQ bike eats and are receiving many enquiries from different states where people are ready to take up franchises,” said Arun Varma.
