Head To The Yellow Submarine For Craft Beer, Great Food, & Good Vibes
The Ooru is home to a slew of microbreweries, the good, the bad, and the ugly; and the experienced Bangalorean is well equipped to differentiate between the three. Just a couple of months ago The Yellow Submarine opened its doors in Bannerghatta as a welcome addition for the folks in the area who enjoy a good craft beer. As Beatles fans we couldn’t wait to try out the place (which is also pet-friendly, just FYI) and soak in some good vibes.
As soon as we stepped out of the elevator we loved the massive submarine door that served as the entrance and it really got us excited about the space! The outdoor area is definitely the place to be with loads of instagrammable bits (did somebody say next profile picture) and we couldn’t wait to get started.
Butterbeer, the Beatles, & Beetroot Hummus
We began with some craft beer samplers, interestingly enough they had around 7 beers on tap on a Saturday afternoon which we found pretty impressive. Some of our favorites were the Hefeweizen which had some lovely floral notes, and the Porter which had some brilliant coffee and chocolate notes. Potterheads, when we visited they also had a Butterbeer (try not to freak out) and it smelled just like caramel and butterscotch which made for very easy drinking!
Next, we got some bites to go with our booze. We enjoyed the Samosa Hummus enormously with the lovely beetroot hummus adding an earthiness to the saltiness of the samosa. Another dish that you absolutely have to try if you visit is the Lotus Stem Chips (make sure you eat them hot) they’re beautifully crisp and are the perfect accompaniment to your beer!
Something that we found really interesting about the Yellow Submarine is that they try to make everything in house, from the salads, to the pasta, to the bread (their garlic bread is delectable) and it certainly elevated each dish we had. We also enjoyed whatever we had from the tandoor, we tried the Tandoori Prawns which were super luscious and a tad on the spicy side (perfect with your beer) and the Amritsari Fish Tikka which we particularly liked because they used Mahi Mahi instead of Basa.
For the mains we tried out the vegetarian and non-vegetarian kulcha along with the Smoked Palak Paneer, and Mutton Rogan Ghosht and boy, were we happy campers! The portions were also massive so our lunch left us full and satisfied.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without having some dessert, so we tried the Baked Cheesecake with a blueberry simple sauce definitely a great way to end the meal. However, the real hero was the Housemade Snickers Bar in which they managed to absolutely nail the taste of snickers, down to the peanut crunch and the caramel punch we’re for sure coming back for that one. All in all, The Yellow Submarine ticked all the boxes in terms of the vibe, the food, and the drink and they’ve made fans out of us!
