There Is A New Instagram Trend And It Smells Like Seaweed
We’ve gone through so many food trends since 2016 started and there seems to be no chance of it slowing down. If anything, we seem to be welcoming even more food trends into the world. And of course, we are both fascinated and horrified by this, but obviously we must still cover it.
So what are we talking about? Blue Lattes. They made their first appearance at a coffee shop in Melbourne called Matcha Mylkbar. While it might not taste great, they are definitely making waves on Instagram. As with anything that trends, Instagram is what sets it off and it makes it bigger than it is. Blue Lattes look beautiful because of the blue colour and when a filter is added onto the picture, it automatically becomes really beautiful. So to the rest of us, looking at these images, it might not seem like a good or bad drink, but it definitely looks beautiful.
Take a look:
It’s a mixture of ginger, lemon, coconut milk, agave and blue algae powder. And according to someone who has tried this latte, “It has a strong seaweed-type smell.” But, according to the staff at Matcha Mylkbar, it’s reminiscent of sour milk, with a tart aftertaste. Despite being called a ‘latte’ and being marketed as coffee, there is absolutely no coffee in it whatsoever.
We gotta admit, though, it is a beautiful looking glass of something.
