Pocketin, Real-Time Restaurant Deal Finder, Raises $150,000 In Funding
The Noida-based 4 month old startup Pocketin has raised $150,000 in the seed funding from Hong Kong based Swastika Company Ltd. Pocketin’s platform helps diners find the best restaurant deals in real-time, events and activities around the restaurant. According to the company, the funding will be used to expand its current operations in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon and potentially launch in cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru in the coming months.
Discount Deals In Real-Time
Pocketin, launched in September of 2015 by Kshitij Mehra, Rahul Arora, Anirudh Mondal, Siddharth Sharma and Akshay Utreja, offers diners to pick and choose the right deal which suites their tastes and budget. The app allows the diner to set their own bid for discounts in restaurants and once the bid is accepted the discount is reflected on the bill at the restaurant. Pocketin is one of the few apps which allows diners to receive real-time discounted rates from any number of restaurants in the city. Speaking about how Pocketin helps customers find the right deals, Kshitij Mehra, CEO at Pocketin, said “We aim to create a platform which not only helps people discover new restaurants but also make their experience pocket friendly by offering them the best possible deals/discounts through our unique Real Time deal discovery and comparison engine. We also understand that for a diner, along with the price, convenience matters a lot which is why we have a dedicated operations workforce which ensures that every customer has a delightful and hassle free table reservation and deal redemption experience at the restaurant.”
Intuitive Technology
Pocketin’s tech platform also provides an avenue for restaurants to offer discounts based on the customer’s specifics instead of the current method of set discount offering. Since the app gathers various data points from the customers, it is easier for the restaurants to pick and choose the type of discounts it can offer to the customer. The data points also helps in curating the best restaurant experience for the customer by understanding personal preferences. Speaking about Pocketin’s intuitive technology, Anirudh Mondal, COO of Pocketin, said, “Our aim right now is to create a more intuitive experience for the user. The data points we are capturing on the platform is much more than what similar apps in the food-tech domain are able to capture because of the detailed interaction our app has with the user. This will help us to suggest the user more relevant restaurants and deals when he is looking for them without him having to make all that effort.”
Expansion Based On Funding
Pocketin’s growth can be attributed to the strong word-of-mouth referrals since the company launched its product in September of last year. Pocketin is looking expand on its current team of 15 and its services across the Delhi-NCR region in the next six months, with the aim of partnering with nearly 1200 restaurants. During the next phase for expansion, the company is said to target cities like Mumbai, Bangalore and Dubai.
