007 Vesper Martini Recipe

“Shaken, not stirred”

Yesterday Sir Roger Moore, a.k.a. The Man With The Golden Gun and the Bond who according to Patton Oswalt was the “have a drink with me & hash it out” 007, passed away at the age of 89 after a tiring battle with cancer. So it is only right for us to pay our tribute to this Bond, and what better way than raising a glass of the signature Vesper Martini that has been shaken (not stirred) to perfection?

James Bond truly knew his poison. Moreover, he knew exactly what he wanted to have, otherwise how many of us can go to the bartender and describe each and every single ingredient (flawlessly that too) that our cocktail should contain? Not many people, unless of course they have a View to Kill. But awe aside, there’s something truly special about the iconic Bond martini (apart from being a Bond martini).

While the ingredients for this martini are very few, the method is what is important in making this cocktail. But that too is no rocket science – or in Bond’s words, just add “Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?” Simple, isn’t it? So get your cocktail shakers and martini glasses out for we’ve a tribute to pay to one of the most suave spies in the history of James Bond.
