Andhra Chicken Pickle Recipe
Have you ever had a non-vegetarian pickle before? Well, this Andhra chicken pickle is a great place to start – use this simple recipe to make your own at home!
As the name suggests, Andhra chicken pickle can be traced back to Andhra Pradesh, and tastes great with traditional Hyderabadi foods like biryani, samosas or Hyderabadi khichdi. You can also enjoy this pickle with plain rice, pulao, rotis, naans or appams.
Adjust the amount of spices as per your taste.

Ingredients
- 250 grams Chicken washed and drained, cut into bite sized pieces
- 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 3/4 tbsp coriander seeds
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Poppy seeds
- 1/2 inch cinnamon
- 5 Cloves
- 1 Cardamom
- pinch Aof cumin seeds
- 1 lemon juiced
- Oil - as required
- salt as required

Instructions
- Whisk the turmeric and ginger garlic paste together.
- Coat the chicken pieces with this mixture and allow it to sit for ten minutes.
- Fry the chicken pieces for two minutes in a pan of hot oil, with the lid on.
- Then, take the lid off and sauté the chicken until cooked.
- Allow the chicken to cool.
- Meanwhile, separately dry roast the coriander seeds, mustard seeds, poppy seeds, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and cumin seeds.
- Allow the roasted spices to cool and grind them to a fine powder.
- Place the lime juice in a small pan and heat it for a few seconds over a low flame.
- Stir the spice powder into the chicken.
- Then, stir in the red chilli powder and lemon juice.
- Add salt as required.
- Allow the chicken pickle to marinade in the spices for an hour and then put it in a sealed jar.
- The pickle is ready!
