- 1 gram cupflour
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tsp Cumin powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Water
- Lemon juice to taste
- Oil for deep frying

For the batter
- Add gram flour, cumin powder, garam masala, red chilli powder, salt, turmeric and very little water to a bowl. Mix well
- The batter should be paste-like and of coating consistency.
For the main preparation
- Clean the fish and cut into pieces.
- Add salt to the fish and let the fish marinate in salt for 3 hours.
- Wash the salt off the fish and add the prepared batter to the fish.
- Let the fish marinate for 45 minds.
- Deep fry the fish in oil.
- Once fried, remove fish from oil and place in plate with tissue to drain the oil.
- Garnish with garam masala and lemon. Serve hot.
