Sabudana Upma Recipe

Upma is a popular Indian preparation made by roasting the ingredients to form a thick porridge like meal. The dish finds its roots in Southern India and is popular breakfast item in neighbouring states as well such as Sri Lanka. Upma can be made with a number of ingredients like semolina (rava), vermicelli, and sabudana (sago). The one that we’ll be making today is a sabudana upma.
The sabudana upma is very similar to sabudana khichdi in taste and texture. Have it with some coriander chutney for maximum amount of yummy in your tummy. Follow this recipe to cook up a delicious sabudana upma.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Sabudana
- 1 tbsp roasted peanuts
- 2 potatoes (boiled peeled, and cubed)
- piece ½”of ginger
- 2 Green chilies finely chopped
- tsp ½cumin seeds jeera
- A handful of curry leaves
- Oil/ghee for roasting

Instructions
- Soak the sabudana in water for 5-6 hours.
- Grind the peanuts and make a coarse powder. Cut the ginger into small pieces.
- Heat the oil a non-stick pan or wok and put it on the flame.
- Put sago in it and roast it lightly.
- Heat oil in another pan and then add the curry leaves and ginger in it.
- Now add the green chillies, sabudana along with half spoon salt in it.
- Cook for 5-6 minutes. Do not add water.
- Finally add the ground peanuts and boiled potatoes. Cook for another minute or two.
- Serve hot.
