Tawa Fish Fry Recipe
This tawa fish fry recipe is modelled after Amritsari fried fish – a spicy, masala coated fish fry that is a popular street food in North India, especially in Punjab.
Serve this fish fry as a starter with chutney or as a side dish with a North Indian meal.

Ingredients
- 300 grams fish washed and cut
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/4 tsp ajwain
- salt to taste
- 3/4 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
- 3/4 tsp tandoori masala
- 1/4 tsp biryani masala
- 1 pinch amchur
- 1 tsp Lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tbsp Besan
- 1 pinch Turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp Oil

Instructions
- Dry roast the besan over a low flame for a few minutes.
- Combine the chili powder, kasuri methi, tandoori masala, biryani masala, amchur, lemon juice, turmeric powder, salt and ginger garlic paste.
- Marinate the fish with this combination of ingredients and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat the oil and add the ajwain to it.
- Allow the ajwain to splutter and add the fish to the pan
- Sauté the pieces on one side for 5 minutes and 5 minutes on the other.
- Coat the fish piece with besan and fry for a further 3-5 minutes until the fish is cooked.
- Serve hot!
