This Just In, Gordon Ramsay Will Finally Give “This Vegan Thing A Try”
Not more than a few weeks ago, Gordon Ramsay managed to tick off the vegan community – including animal rights group, PETA (People For Ethical Treatment of Animals) – by tweeting: “I’m a member of PETA! People eating tasty animals…” And to Ramsay’s cheeky remark, PETA had replied by saying that they could bet that the celebrity chef would one day tread the plant-based path like his contemporaries.
To jog your memory a little more, here’s exactly what PETA had said in reply to Ramsay’s tweet in February: “Oh, dear, Gordon. We’ve heard that old line before. While you’re spending time mocking the future #vegan we’re betting you one day become, most chefs are exploring healthy, animal- & environment-friendly #PlantBased dishes.”

It’s safe to say now that PETA would have won that bet as the Kitchen Nightmares host, who was recently also making news for having lost a lot of weight and getting his life back on a healthy track, announced this week that he his “going to give this vegan thing a try”, and just in case you think it’s a joke, it’s not. “Yes guys you heard that right”, he added, sharing a picture of his new London restaurant Street Pizza‘s vegan charred aubergine pizza.

Can you hear that low-key hum? We bet it’s the sound of a collective “we told you so” reverberate in the PETA headquarters! That said, there has been no comment from the animal rights organization. Yet. But we’ve got our popcorn ready!
Now, we’re not sure whether Ramsay’s vegan stint is a marketing gimmick and limited only to his restaurant’s pizza or whether the chef is really giving up on meat and animal products, but it’s a start nonetheless.
