1.41 Lakh Eggs Stolen By A Distributor In Mumbai

Though being an egg distributor, a man stole a truck full of eggs to bring down a competitor’s business reports Mid Day. The culprit stole 1.41 lakh eggs at Green City in Ambernath East of Mumbai and was caught yesterday by the Thane Crime Branch. The robbery happened early in the morning at 3:15 AM on Tuesday and there were a total of four people involved. While the main culprit has been caught, the other three are absconding.

“Our team who scoured CCTV footage and also got tip-offs from sources, learnt that one of the accused in the robbery, Sadat, was a resident of Bhiwandi,” said DCP Deepak Devraj, Thane Crime Branch in a statement. “We caught him and have started the search for his associates. We have recovered 1,16,000 eggs as the rest have been sold in the market. Our investigation is going on.”

The four accused had overtook the truck, dragged the driver out, beating him along with the shop owner’s son Mujammil. Shaikh was then blindfolded and dropped off near Titwala while the accused robbers took the truck that costed  Rs 5,00,000 along with 1,41,000 eggs that were worth Rs. 5,00,000. The robbers also took the Rs.2000 cash and Shaikh’s mobile phone while fleeing. After a complaint from Shaikh, the police intervened and caught the culprit.
