10 Days Of Food Fiesta Begins Tomorrow In Mumbai

Starting Friday, 19^th January, the Versova Metro Rail ground close to Seven Bungalows is going to see a festive season of ten whole days. The Versova Festival which is in its third year now includes food, shopping and music says a report by the Times of India.

The foodies of Mumbai can expect traditional Koli fare at the Versova Festival made by the fisherwomen themselves. “Movie screenings are also scheduled in the evening,” said Pratik Sheth who is also responsible for setting up the festival. “Home chefs and Koli fisherwomen will set up food stalls and will launch a new variety of papad made from fish,” he added.

The Times of India reports that the Versova Festival this year is going to be a grand one with the presence of celebrities and the Chief Minister himself. “CM Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the event like he does each year,” said the organiser Bharati Lavekar who is also a member of the legislative assembly. “This season we have also invited actor Akshay Kumar to become brand ambassador for our ongoing campaign for menstrual hygiene. It is a nice coincidence that his film on the same subject ‘Pad Man’ is scheduled for release next week,” she said.
