3 Ways You Harm Your Body And How To Change It
People are becoming health conscious, picky eaters and even exercise on a regular basis to stay healthy. But there are times when the fatigue sets in or we suffer from inflammation. This is time we begin to question where we are going wrong. Here are 3 things that can harm you and making small changes might go a long way.
Skipping Meals
Eating healthy is not the key to good health if you’re skipping meals and we’re not just talking about breakfast here. Eating at random times in the day can also harm you. “It leads to overfeeding eventually, and that is highly detrimental to oxidative state leading to stress and inflammation,” Dr. Caroline Apovian, director of the Nutrition and Weight Management Center at Boston Medical Center, told Insider.
It’s best to stick to more or less the same time for the three full meals of the day according to Apovian and also to include vegetables and fruits in them.
Skipping Protein At Breakfast
“Make sure you eat protein for breakfast,” Apovian told the publication. It keeps you feeling full for a longer time and can help you avoid binging on snacks till lunch time. This fact is written in a study conducted in 2013 in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. So include yoghurt, eggs and nuts in your first meal of the day.
Skipping Fruits And Vegetables
People skilfully pick out the vegetables from their food and avoid fruits opting for sugary foods and drinks. But this can cause stiffness and inflammation in the skin according to Insider. “It’s best to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables with a high concentration of antioxidants instead, such as berries,” Jaliman said. Three to four cups of vegetables and one and half to two and a half cups of fruits is recommended in a for adults by the 2015–2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
