14 Dead in Massive Fire at Mumbai’s Rooftop Restaurant
14 people were killed and 14 others were injured in a massive fire that started from a restaurant in Mumbai’s Kamala Mills compound early Friday, officials have said. More than 6 fire tenders and 4 water tankers rushed to the spot but it took more than three hours to douse the huge flames. The doctors have confirmed that the victims died of suffocation. A case has been registered against the owners of the restaurant “1 Above” where the fire broke out.
There are two restaurants on the building’s top floor, 1 Above and another establishment, Mojo’s Bistro. Kamala Mills is a former industrial compound that in recent years has been refurbished. It is also home to several media outlets with a number of national news channels affected by the fire, including Times Now, Mirror Now and ET Now. Police have reportedly launched an investigation.
