Nestle SA Steps Foot In Indian Pet Food Segment With Purina Supercoat
After capturing a majority of human palates in India, Swiss FMCG giant Nestle is now targeting our four-legged friends’ palate. The company has announced its venture into the pet care segment by launching premium dog food through its subsidiary firm Purina PetCare India.
In a statement, the company pointed out the huge pet food market in India, which is estimated to double in the next five years, by highlighting the fact that the country has approximately 19 million pets. Meanwhile, pet owners are also becoming increasingly aware of their pets’ health and nutrition. To leverage this market and its demand, Nestle has launched Purina Supercoat range of dog food, which offers a wholesome combination of high-quality natural ingredients, Nestle said in a statement.
“With the launch of Supercoat in India we kick-start our mission to raise the standards for pet nutrition,” Varindra Sewak, MD, Purina PetCare India said, adding, “we will bring our global portfolio to India to cater to these consumers and become a significant player in the rapidly growing pet food category.”
