Have You Seen Adam DeVine’s Mispronuncing Food Guide For Bon Appetit?
Is there anything funnier than watching Adam DeVine in Comedy Central’s Workaholics? Yes. Watching him butcher the names of several hard-to-pronounce foods in a video for Bon Appetit will have you rolling on the floor laughing.
Adam DeVine’s Mispronunciation Guide for Hard-to-Pronounce Foods
Bon Appetit filmed DeVine reading out hard to pronounce names from his smartphone, after which he makes ‘educated’ guesses about what the foods may be.
“Adam Devine teaches us how to pronounce difficult-to-understand foods, and explains exactly what they are, and he’s not even lying. Sort of,” says Bon Appetit’s description in the YouTube video description box. Despite being uploaded only yesterday, the video already has 11,000 views. Check it out:
So, we watch as Devine decides that a Nicoise, a French salad is actually a Russian dish, ‘Claufotis’ (a flan dessert) is a fancy name for cauliflower and suggests that Claufotis gets a better PR person.
DeVine appears convinced that he has the pronunciations down perfectly, while the accompanying computer pronouncer, of course, disagrees.
Even if he didn’t give us the perfect guide to pronouncing these dishes at least we know what not to do. Thanks for that, Devine.
