The Gentleman’s Radiance – The Leather Shoes That Cost A Whopping 29,160 Yen And Are Made Entirely Of Chocolate!
Master chocolatier Motohiro Okai from Rihga Royal Hotel‘s chocolate boutique L’eclat in Osaka, Japan, has crafted a stunning shoe collection called “Gentleman’s Radiance”, but there’s a twist. These shoes are made entirely from chocolate. The perfectly replicated seams, soles and shoelaces, chocolate shoes could fool your eyes as genuine leather shoes.
The Gentleman’s Radiance
Each chocolate shoe measures 26 cm in length and comes in three different shades of brown leather — light, dark and red-brown. To give these chocolate shoes a realistic shiny finish resembling genuine leather, Okai engaged in a painstaking process of trial and error. To make it more authentic, each pair of chocolate shoes comes with a shoe care kit, including a chocolate “shoehorn” and a small jar of “shoe cream” containing round discs of tempered chocolate.
According to reports, only nine pairs of these edible shoes will be produced. Each pair is estimated to sell at 29,160 Japanese yen – about 260 U.S. dollars – and that’s more expensive than some genuine leather shoes!
This limited range of shoes will be available only to a select few customers from Jan. 20 to Feb. 7, and scheduled for delivery just in time for Valentine’s Day.
