According to The Hindu, this was possibly the first time the the Indian Railways has got a business offer through Twitter.
The Van Service
The refrigerated van service was initiative by the Indian Railways which was launched a few years ago so the perishable items could be transported. These include fruits, vegetables, frozen meats/poultry and chocolates. However, according to what a ministry official told The Hindu was that most of the vans were lying defunct.
Also, the service was only available on certain routes. “We would certainly like to capture this traffic. Let us see what can be done,” the official added. Further reports state that the senior manager of the Ahmedabad Division will be meeting with Amul on Wednesday to take this ahead. The official also added that the South Western Railway does have a few refrigerated vans which could be repaired to help out Amul.
