Baked By Melissa Used 40,000 Cupcakes To Create A Peace Sign In Honour Of John Lennon
Nearly 40 years after his death, John Lennon and his values are still idolized by thousands of people, many who gather together in jam sessions to break out into renditions of ‘Imagine’, his most popular song.
In honour of his birthday (October 9th), Baked By Melissa, which creates miniature cupcakes, partnered with the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and Yoko Ono to create a massive peace mosaic, using cupcakes.

40,000 cupcakes of multiple colours were used to construct the peace sign in New York’s Central Park. Underneath it, the words ‘#ImaginePeace’ were spelt out, to highlight the values of peace and love that Lennon was most committed to. The creation was unveiled on Tuesday and attendees were invited to sample the cupcakes after the opening.

Baked By Melissa will be submitting the creation to the Guinness Book of World Records as it beats the previous 33,600 cupcake-strong mosaic that had previously held the world record cupcake mosaics.
