Barbeque Nation Brings The Flavours Of Chettinad To Chennai
After the success of their Nungambakkam Full Kondattam food festival that started in October and went all the way to the beginning of November, Barbeque Nation is bringing another food festival to your tables.
“Flavours of Chettinad” brings to Chennai delicious spicy flavours and a variety of non-vegetarian dishes that are bound to excite even the folks who don’t like hot food. Unlike the previous food festival, this festival will happen at all the Barbeque Nation outlets around the city, serving delicious Chettinad food for lunch and dinner.
Ritam Mukherjee, Regional Manager of Barbeque Nation South said, “Chettinad cuisine is famous for its use of the wide variety of spices used in preparing mainly non-vegetarian food. The dishes are hot and pungent with fresh ground masalas and topped with a boiled egg that is usually considered the essential part of the meal. They also use a variety of sun dried meats and salted vegetables, reflecting the dry environment of the region. We are trying to present this unique taste of Chettinad to the food connoisseurs of Chennai with this festival.”
At a press conference held at the Nungambakkam outlet, Chef Shiva spoke about preparing for the food festival and added that it took them a few months to plan and prepare, getting all the chefs and cooks and staff prepared for the festival. Since all the Barbeque Nation outlets are promoting the same festival, it takes lots of training to get everyone ready.
Along with starters being served at your table as normal, there are more traditional dishes on the menu like Chettinadu Kozhi Roast, Meen Varuval, Kothu Paratha, Iddiappam, Nandu (Crab) Masala and desserts like Jigarthanda, Paal Kozhukottai and Elaneer Payasam.
Flavours of Chettinad food festival is happening at all Barbeque Nation restaurants in Chennai, from November 8th to 20th.
