Aloo Bread Pakora Recipe
Just in case you thought that the Bombay Spl Sandwich was the fanciest India could get with bread, thing again. Another bread delicacy from the streets of India happens to be the golden brown deep-fried bread pakora.
The snack is a batter-fried bread fritter, which can either be stuffed with something or not. Usually the bread pakoras come with a spiced potato stuffing, while some like a chunk of cottage cheese and chutney in the center. And more often than not, people like to binge on plain stuffing-free bread pakoras as well. Use this recipe to fry up a batch of potato filled bread pakoras.

Ingredients
- 4 slices bread
- Oil for deep frying
- For The Aloo Masala
- 1 cup boiled peeled and mashed potatoes
- 2 tsp Oil
- tsp ½mustard seeds
- 5 to 6 Curry leaves
- cup ¼boiled and coarsely mashed green peas
- tsp ¼Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp ginger-green chili paste
- 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander
- salt to taste
- For Batter
- ½ Cup Water
- 1 gram cup besan bengalflour
- tsp ¼Turmeric Powder
- tsp ½chili powder
- pinch aof Asafetida
- salt to taste
For the aloo masala
- in Heat oila deep non-stick pan and crackle the mustard seeds.
- leaves Add the curryand sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
- Add the potatoes green peas, turmeric powder, ginger-green chili paste, coriander and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for one minute.
- Divide into 2 equal portions and keep aside.

Making the pakoras
- Place a slice of bread on a clean, dry and flat surface and spread a portion of the aloo masala evenly over it.
- Place another slice of bread over it, press lightly and cut diagonally into 2 equal pieces.
- Take the besan, turmeric powder, chili powder, asafetida, salt and water in a bowl and mix well to make a homogenous batter.
- Heat oil in a deep non-stick kadhai, dip one piece at a time in the batter and deep-fry on a medium flame till it turns crisp and golden brown in colour on both the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.
- Repeat steps 1 to 3 to make 3 more bread pakodas.
- Serve immediately with choice of dip or chutney..
