For Marinade
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp ginger and garlic paste
- salt to taste
- 1/2 kg curd
For Gravy
- 175 gm butter
- 1/2 tsp black cumin seeds
- 1/2 kg tomato - pureed
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- salt to taste
- 100 gm fresh cream
- 4 sliced green chillies
- 1/2 tsp crushed fenugreek leaves

Instructions
Marinating the chicken
- 1. Put the red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, salt and curd together in a bowl. This will be your marinade.
- 2. Put the boneless chicken into the bowl and mix well. Make sure that the marinade has completely caught on to all of the chicken.
- 3. Place the marinated chicken in the refrigerator and leave it overnight.
- 4. Roast the marinated chicken in a tandoor or an oven at medium temperature for 5 to 10 minutes. The chicken should be three-fourth done.
- 5. If you do not own an oven, sautee the marinated chicken till it is three-fourth done.
Preparation of chicken gravy
- 1. Heat the butter in a pan
- 2. Once heated, add the black cumin seeds, sugar, tomato puree, red chilli powder and salt. Stir well.
- 3. Add the previously prepared chicken, butter, fresh cream, the crushed fenugreen leaves and the sliced green chillies.
- 4. Let the mixture boil until the chicken is cooked.
- The butter chicken is done! Serve it either rice or naan(Indian Bread).
