The Cheapest Michelin Starred Restaurant In The World Opens An Outlet In Australia

Hawker Chan, run by Chef Chan Hong Meng is the World’s Cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant in Singapore. Focusing on street food like crisp-skinned soy chicken, char siu (BBQ pork) and crisp-skin roast pork, the restaurant has opened an outlet in Australia according to the report by SBS.

The restaurant has opened up in Australia at a spin-off on Melbourne’s Lonsdale Street and the signature dish here is Singapore Chicken Rice. Speaking to SBS Chef Meng said, “Hawker style Cantonese food is multicultural but mostly Hokkien or Cantonese-style food. It is simple, comfort food for everyone.”

Talking about his signature dish, Meng said, “The secret is smooth chicken with a fragrant sauce. I am almost certain that the chicken rice from Hawker Chan will be the biggest hit in the Australian market.” Further reports say that this dish is that grabbed the attention of the critics and is a crowd-puller. The dish is also full of aromatics like Chinese angelica root, cloves, coriander seed and star anise. Soy marinade added to the dish is prepared fresh each day and the chicken braised overnight in it says the report.
