Chowing Down On Jamjar Diner’s New Menu
Mumbai foodies are already massive fans of Versova’s Jamjar Diner for the relaxed vibe, plethora of games and – of course – delicious food it serves. Especially popular are its burgers, jagaritas and its much-instagrammed Flower Pot Surprise.
Now, Jamar Diner has revved up its offerings with a new menu which places a focus on breakfast dishes, burgers, pizzas and smoothies that will appeal to complete carnivores and health focused foodies alike. Dishes on the new menu include Loaded Waffles which include Banoffee and Rocky Road Chocolate flavours, ‘JJ’s Bennies’ which are Jamjar’s spin on Eggs Benedict in variants like BBQ Pulled Pork and Ham & Cheese and French Toasts with caramelised pineapple and coconut or cinnamon whipped cream.
On the mains menu are dishes like a Truffle Goat Cheese Pizza, a Spicy Three Cheese Burger, a Juicy Lucy Burger complete with a cheese stuffed tenderloin patty and a Triple Double Burger with a double tenderloin patty, double cheddar and double bacon.
We’ll give you a little time to clear up that drool.
Tasting The Talk
As enticed as you are by the sound (and look) of the new dishes, we stepped into Jamjar Diner late last week to sample the new menu. We began by calling for the JJ’s Superfood Smoothie Bowl. The supersized bowl arrived making a pretty picture with a topping of seeds, coconut flakes, bananas, kiwi, chia seeds and raisins. Each topping combined with the rich, velvety smoothie below to create a delicious varied combination of flavours and textures; it was like having seven different breakfasts in one bowl! Our favourite toppings were the coconut flakes and seeds, both of which added beautiful flavours to the smoothie.
So impressed were we by the smoothie that we decided to order the Berry Good Morning smoothie next. Arriving at our table in a squat glass with a fat straw, this would truly make everyone’s morning better – especially if you’re trying to ward off a nasty hangover. The smoothie was thick and creamy with a dominant berry taste and a varied texture thanks to the almond and chia seeds in it.
To fulfil our carbs quota we wrapped up our meal with a Ham and Cheese ‘Benny’. The dish boasted a crisp, buttered English muffin topped with a mixture of ham and cheese, followed by a beautiful poached egg and then crisp shreds of bacon. Particularly gratifying was cutting into the white poached egg, watching the yellow yolk ooze out and scooping it into our mouths with the ham and muffin.
By this time, thanks to Jamjar Diner’s super-hero like portions, we were stuffed to our limit and so decided to return in a few days to try the burgers, pizzas and desserts on the new menu. However, instead of waiting to hear from us, why not pay Jamjar Diner a visit yourself?
