“I was flying to Jaipur from Mumbai and I had decided that I’m going to do this this time,” Mehta told NDTV. He also revealed in his Facebook post that a lot of food on the flight is left unused on flights and probably ends up in a trash. “I decided that I’m not gonna let any uneaten food to be wasted or dumped into the garbage. Rather, I’ll collect it and feed that food to the hungry,” he wrote in the post.

Mehta also talked on his post about the supportive nature shown by the crew of Air India as they helped him collect the unused food. “The crew was very supportive and suggested me to be seated and that it’s better if they collected it while taking their food-trays back, separating the uneaten food in a bag simultaneously,” he said in his post.

The passenger attained 70 burger buns, 50 butter pockets and 30 chocolates which he gave away to the needy as he travelled from Ajmer to Jaipur.
