Controversial Ad Hoarding Pulled Down By Zomato
While the internet loved the quirky ad hoarding by Zomato using pop culture references, there were some who took offence on the M.C. B.C., slogan. The banner was called sexist and offensive on social media leading to the food app to take it down.
Offensive Banner By Zomato
While the other as banners used for the ad campaign by Zomato were found spot on by the social media, the M.C. (mac n’ cheese) B.C. (butter chicken) sounded offensive to some. Even commentator and author Suhel Seth voiced his opinion and called the banner shameful.
Shame on you @ZomatoIN ! Absolutely shameful what you’ve attempted to do. Your investors should be sickened by your behaviour! @smritiirani : this is outrageous. @ascionline pic.twitter.com/pSChhHSrxo

There were some who tried to pacify Seth by asking him to look at the humour aspect of the banner. However, the banners were taken down on Saturday with the Zomato co-founder, Pankaj Chaddah apologizing via a comment on Seth’s tweet.
Hey, while we didn't mean to, we can see why it can be offensive to people, and we apologize for it.
We will take this ad down with immediate effect. cc @AksharPathak @prao24— Pankaj Chaddah (@pankajchaddah) November 30, 2017
