NASVI & FSSAI’s Iconic Street Food Festival To #GoCashless This Year

Every year the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), come together to celebrate the signature and iconic street foods from around the Capital and the Country with the National Street Food Festival organized in Delhi.

Around 500 best street food vendors from across the country travel to Delhi offering lip-smacking, delicious food, snacks, main courses food items, desserts and various kinds of food preparations and a host of several other ingredients to its visitors. The event seeks to promote India’s thriving street food scene as well as FSSAI’s Project Clean Street Food, which aims at supporting cleaner, healthier, and more hygienic street food.

Major Attractions

The food festival also hosts a number of entertaining live performances and play zones for the young ones. And true to its legacy, the headline act for the fest will feature Indian rock band, Indian Ocean. INDIAN OCEAN! Also, the event will be graced by the presence of eminent Indian chefs Sanjeev Kapoor and Kunal Kapur, while Chef Sadaf Hussain will host a live cooking demonstration.

“This year is bigger not only in terms of food options, but also performances that families can enjoy. We know that most people who visit also come with kids and so we’ve created an entertainment zone specifically for them where they can enjoy and be part of interesting activities,” says Mayank Jain, from NASVI.

#GoCashless

Another major attraction to look forward to is the event’s #GoCashless initiative. As is the case with a number of people, businesses, and industries, the food festival too will accept cashless payments, following the on-going demonetization drive in India. The Street Food Festival will allow foodies to pay for their yummy chaats and tikkis via credit and debit cards and even e-wallets.

“We understand that the cash crunch is an issue, and so we have decided to keep all options of payment open. The festival celebrates the love of Indian street food and we want nothing to numb the experience for our visitors,” adds Jain.
