Drake Stopped Eating Meat, But PETA Wants More

on

Popular Canadian rapper, Drake, announced last week that he has stopped eating meat. During a live stream with fellow gamer Ninja, when the duo was discussing pizza toppings, the One Dance singer said “I don’t eat meat anymore. But I enjoy pineapple on pizza though.”

While animal activist group PETA has welcomed the news with open arms (and a gift basket), the organization has urged the rapper to go a step further to raise his voice against animal cruelty and end one of his business collaborations as well in light of animal activism. “By not eating them (animals), he’s sparing countless animals torture and death. But there’s one more step that he should take to help prevent animal suffering: He must end the partnership between his company, October’s Very Own (OVO), and Canada Goose immediately”, PETA wrote in a blog post-cum-open letter on Monday.

In a tweet targeted at the musician and his partnership with Canada Goose, PETA highlighted the harsh methods used to extract the fur from coyotes that are trapped in “painful steel traps” just so that “their fur can go around someone’s neck”, PETA alleged, adding that it is not good for a celebrity of Dizzy’s stature to promote a non-animal-friendly brand such as Canada Goose.

“Use your voice to urge the rapper to cut ties with Canada Goose Douche immediately and, moving forward, partner only with progressive brands that don’t harm animals”, PETA further wrote.

While Drake has not yet responded to the open letter, we can only hope that either the clothing brands mends its alleged ways or the singer stops promoting the label. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
