Why Eating Healthy Isn’t As Easy As It Seems

on

First things first, eating healthy isn’t just about losing weight, but it’s about just being healthy and looking after yourself. For those that are eating healthy to lose weight, keep in mind that it’s not always going to be easy to eat healthy and lose weight at the same time. It takes time and effort and dedication. If you’re not used to it and if you’re not comfortable with giving up your favourite foods, then eating healthy will take a lot more time than you’re used to.

As someone who has spent most of my life trying to eat healthy and having failed, I am an expert on talking about why eating healthy isn’t as easy as it seems. I’ve tried diets and I’ve tried cutting out the bad and the good and trying new things and testing the fun stuff and just enjoying life the normal way, but it always seems so easy when you lay it out. It’s only when you actually get down to eating through the day and following a schedule that is so unlike your usual one that you realize that it’s not really that easy.

Dieting is all the rage today. Everyone wants to be a size zero (which isn’t really a size) and in order to get to that point, you have to give up pretty much everything and starve yourself on a water diet or a fruit diet or a juice diet that is both unhealthy and not conducive to helping you lose weight. It might seem great and easy on paper, but it’s not always going to be easy to eat and stay healthy.

Eating Healthy

So many diets will tell you that cutting out carbs is good for you. They say that carbs are what does damage to your body. But if you have spent at least 20 years of your life enjoying carbs and eating rice and potato on a daily basis, going cold turkey will only damage your muscles and everything else in your body. Give up carbs, that’s fine. But do it slowly. Much like quitting smoking or drinking (which is important if you want to live healthy), you have to wean yourself off of the bad food. Carbs don’t have to leave your diet completely, but if you’re going to cut back and reduce, do it the smart way. Go from having carbs at every meal to twice a day, then once a day and then only on every other alternate day and finally there will come a day when you can just give it up completely.

I’m no dietitian or an expert on what is good for your body or not, but I don’t believe in fruit and vegetable diets. There are certain things that you can and cannot get from fruits and there are other things that your body needs that fruits and vegetables don’t have. If you’re going to eat healthy, make sure that you understand the pros and cons of what you’re eating and what you’re not eating, because it’s important to be informed.

As I understand it, eating healthy is about finding the right balance between the food you love and enjoy and the food that you should be eating. It’s a fine line, but it’s something that you can definitely do and follow through with if you work hard enough at it. Just because it’s got a good balance doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to be easy. Being healthy isn’t just about eating right, but also about taking care of your body. Exercise is important and also probably one of the toughest things about being healthy. It’s easy to cut the good, the bad and the ugly out of your life, but how easy is it really to get out of bed every morning and go for a walk or a run before your day properly starts? It might seem easy, but it’s about dedication. You need to want to be healthy and you need to want to get out of bed in the morning to go for a run.

Sometimes the best things in life aren’t easy and the good things for the soul are tough to achieve. But in the end, it’ll all be worth it.
