Five And A Half Feet Fondant Ganpati Created By A Patisserie In Mumbai

It’s those eleven days when the Ganesh Mahotsav is celebrated with greast gusto in the whole of Maharashtra. The festive spirit in the city of Mumbai too is at its peak and with that Ganpati idols of all kinds can be seen. The latest talk of the town is the 5.5 feet idol made using fondant by Deliciae Patisserie.

Ganpati Made Out Of Fondant

“There is extensive fondant moulding and jewellery done on the idol to make it look rich. We choose to paint the body colour an ivory with pearl finish. For the clothing, we themed the dhoti an aqua green colour pairing it with an orange scarf detailed with gold hand embroidery. The dhoti and scarf were air brushed with gold, to give it a fabric effect. We had to ensure that the effects of cake decorating were clearly visible in the end product. Techniques used include fondant coating, fondant hand embroidery, moulding, 3D figures, airbrushing, painting, texturing amongst others,” said Bunty Mahajan, Owner and Designer while speaking about the idol.

The idea of making a fondant idol came by when Jitekarvadi Sarvajanik Shri Ganeshutsav Mandal popularly known as Mumbaitala Doosra Ganpati wanted something special and different for the occasion. They met with Bunty and Suchit Mahajan which resulted in a 5.5 feet fondant Ganpati. “If you can decorate & design a cake with fondant, then why not a Ganpati Idol. This challenge was an honour for me, and I was excited to take it up” exclaims Bunty Mahajan showing his excitement on making the idol. The idol can be seen at Thakurdwar where the mandal is set up at Jitekarwadi.
