on

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra of Student Of The Year fame was recently made the face of New Zealand tourism in India. The actor is visiting the island country and recently met up with former NZ cricketers Brendon McCullum and Stephen Fleming for some boy-bonding and food talk over lunch. And here’s all the food that went down.

The trio met up at in popular Spanish Eatery Curators House, located in New Zealand’s gorgeous Botanic Gardens. The restaurant is popular among locals and tourists for serving up authentic Spanish grubs like Cordero Asado (slow roasted alpine lamb shoulder) and Spanish Paella served in its pan, along with some exquisite tapas items like the Chorizo Garcia cooked in cider and Cloudy Bay Clams a la Marinera.

Malhotra, whose love for Delhi food is not unknown, stuck to a beautifully stacked plate of Rack of Lamb and creamed polenta served on a bed of spiced carrot puree as he chatted up McCullum and Fleming. The latter also happens to be the face of New Zealand to India. But food was not all that the Baar Baar Dekho star had in mind.

“I feel like I am in paradise. It’s heaven on earth,” he said. Decked up in proper cycling gear, the adventurous star pursued a lot more than Spanish food on his New Zealand tour. The actor checked activities like swimming with New Zealand’s native Hector’s dolphins with Black Cat Cruises, cruising up to the Akaroa Harbour, chopper ride, and a lot more off his bucket list.

“I have never seen Hector dolphins before. They are the smallest and rarest in the wild. New Zealand continues to surprise me,” Sidharth told IANS.

The former NZ skipper said that the number of Indians travelling to New Zealand – especially honeymoon couples and families – has increased. “There is a lot more interest in coming here and exploring New Zealand. There is more of motivation for Indian families, honeymooners to come to New Zealand.

“It always seemed like it used to be a dream, but now, yes, the appetite of Indians to travel more and be part of more adventure activities, is amazing. The young crowd is becoming reality, and that’s quite exciting,” Fleming told IANS here.
