Illegal Ketchup Making Unit In Telangana Raided Including One Arrest

An illegal ketchup making unit under the name Maa Gayatri Food Enterprises in Medipally was raided by the Special Operation Team (SOT) of Malkajgiri on Thursday. As reported by The Hans India, the ketchup was being made in an unhygienic conditions and was under the violation of Food Safety Standard Authority of India (FSSAI).

Material was seized by the team which included 200 litres of tomato paste and tomato sauce, 5 kilograms of sodium benzoate, 35 litres of acetic acid and 5 litres of colouring agents. The accused who was caught is Bhagwan Singh while his partner Swaminadh Singh is absconding. Their native is Bihar and they used to make ketchup and sell it to fast-food centres, bakeries, shops and food courts at lower rates.

The SOT Inspector, Naveen Kumar informed The Hans India, “They are not having any documents from the concerned authority for manufacturing and trading of the tomato sauce into the market thereby violating FSSAI rules and regulations. Since, consumption of such unhygienic stuff could pose hazardous and dangerous to the public health, a case has been registered against them in Medipally Police Station under sections 420, 188, 272, 273 IPC.”
