Ina Garten Is Filming An All-New Cooking Series!

I was scrolling through my Instagram feed this weekend and guess who was waiting to spring me with a bout of surprise and sheer happiness? Barefoot Contessa queen Ina Garten was smiling at me through my screen with possibly one of the best news one can expect at 3 in the morning! The cookbook author and culinary goddess announced that she is currently filming for an all-new cooking show titled Cooking Like A Pro, which will be aired on Food Network!

That’s right, we’ll be seeing Garten in action, whipping up a storm in a kitchen soon. This Friday, she shared a picture, which featured Garten along with her assistant Liddy Heuck standing proudly behind a beautifully iced chocolate ganache cake (decked with Garten’s signature chevron pattern, of course). The caption read “Fun today filming with @lideylikes for my new TV series, “Cook Like a Pro” on @foodnetwork !! Airing mid-May; stay tuned!! #CookLikeAPro”.

And just like that, without any prior warning, In Garten dropped a bomb of a news on us. No big.


“[The show] is a little more fine-grained than my other show, which is more like my friends are coming for dinner,” Garten was quoted on Today. “I want to teach people techniques instead of recipes. I just want to answer all of people’s questions on how to cook.”

“People are growing up without anyone to show them how to cook, and millennials want to cook for their families and have dinner parties,” she explained. “They’re hungry not just for the nourishment of cooking but also the community of it.”

Basically, the show will feature Garten taking us (and a guest on the show, maybe it’ll be Lidey throughout, or maybe not) through some of her signature recipes, guiding us till we cook like a pro. Or the closest we get to cooking like one. “I just want to show people how to sauté a pepper, chop an onion and cut a cauliflower so that it won’t get all over your kitchen,” she said. “A few simple tips can take something to a professional level.”
