Ketchupp Records Massive Growth Over Last 6 Months
Ketchupp is an online platform started by a bunch of food-loving engineers who had had enough of answering/hearing questions like “what’s the best dish here?” The platform uses natural language programming, which is an algorithm that analyses the words in the search bar and picks up the key words to match your search and accordingly suggests only the best dishes/places to order a particular dish, based on other recommendations.
Launched in 2015, Ketchupp has managed to create a solid foothold for itself in the online F&B space in just over two years. More so in the last six months with a mind-blowing growth of 1500% and went from 50K users in September 2016 to 750K users in March 2017.
“We are very excited with the traction that we have got so far, especially with a small team size of 11. We are committed to leveraging our strength in technology merged with consumer insights in food space. We are effectively solving a daily quintessential problem of the user of “What to EAT” which is highlighted by our repeat rate of more than 40% MoM”, said Chirag Taneja, one of the 3 co-founders.
The start-up had earlier raised seed round funding led by Mumbai-based early stage investor, India Quotient. The team plans to utilise this round of investment in making a robust product through analytics, big data and enabling tech solutions. Ketchupp works on a very differentiated, efficient and tech-driven business model wherein consumer insights are mapped with the company’s in-house food IP data, thereby solving consumer’s pain point in a meaningful way.
With a compact 11 member team based in Delhi, Ketchupp currently functions in nine major cities – Gurgaon, Delhi, Noida, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, and Kolkata – and is expected to cover more North Indian cities like Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Lucknow, Shimla, and Manali soon.
