KFC Is Sending A Chicken Zinger To Do Space Research!

Now that’s something I never though I’d write!

It’s the 21^st century and there have been enough advancement in science and technology that we can do quite a lot of thing on this planet and away from it. In fact, we can even bake bread in space, because why not! But wait, that just isn’t enough to satiate our curios ass brains, because KFC just announced that it is teaming up with private spaceflight company World View to launch a chicken sandwich into the edge of space.

Yep, this is really happening. KFC’s signature Zinger sandwich will be sent for a four-day trip into the stratosphere, at about 7 to 30 miles off the ground. “We’re excited to be the ones pushing spicy, crispy chicken sandwich space travel forward,” Kevin Hochman, KFC U.S. president, said in a statement. “But in all seriousness, we’re proud to support World View’s commitment to advancing space research and trust them to take our world famous Zinger sandwich to space”, he was quoted by Mashable.

Is it a joke?

No, it is not a joke. Though World View CEO Jane Poynter did find it quite funny at first. That said, it was soon after realized that sending the sandwich into space would be a great chance for World View “to publicly demonstrate our breakthrough Stratollite technology to a large audience while simultaneously financing a significant portion of the vehicle’s development.”

The Zinger is scheduled to take flight on Wednesday, 21^st June and it will apparently aid World View’s research to test the technology needed for future flights.
