KFC Is Using GIFs To Make You Crave Their Chicken
The Graphics Interchange Format, or GIF as you would probably know it, has become a popular way of communication today. It shows an image with animated movement and can be used in many areas; you’ll find them on websites, instant messages and even on Tinder. Now, you’ll find GIFs popping up in KFC ads – the brand is using them as a means to attract the attention of younger customers who are familiar with GIFS.

KFC is using GIFs to advertise its Wednesday special offers, where customers can 10 pieces of chicken for Rs.400. At present, KFC has released two ads which have been conceptualized by Oglivy & Mather.
Commenting on the strategy, Lluis Ruiz Ribot, CMO, KFC India, said, “GIFs have become a means of communication that young consumers are using at nearly every point of digital conversation. It is a more engaging, amusing and human format of communication and they draw an instant connect with consumers. For this campaign, we wanted to create something that would be disruptive and also be shareable – and these quick GIF-inspired TVCs do just that!”
