Low Cost Hot Case Invented By Brother-Sister Duo Of Manipal

on

Vinayak and Kayva Prabhu have invented a hot case using glass wool that will be affordable by the rural folk. The vessel is called Akshaya Patra and consists of a hot box, water heater and a grain dryer that together keeps the food fresh. It is also compatible with all devices and a variety of food items can be stored in it. People can use it for cooking as well as storing.

Vinayak is a third-year Computer Science engineering student from the Manipal Institute of Technology and Kayva is an MBA student at the same institute. “Akshaya Patra is covered with glass wool which prevents heat from emanating outside the container, hence keeping the food hot for long hours. It is compatible with all devices, including a gas stove, firewood and even an induction cooker. The biggest advantage is that the food will remain warm till evening without consuming extra energy to reheat.” Vinayak Prabhu told Bangalore Mirror.

The brother sister duo bagged a consolation prize at the InkMakers competition held at T-Hub in Hyderabad. “It is a tested product and in future, we hope to use thinner metal sheets to increase efficiency and reduce the gap between containers. It will increase the heat transfer as well. We also have a promotion strategy in place. We hope to conduct demonstrations in panchayats and launch campaigns,” Vinayak added.
